What is the significance of the San Andreas Fault?

My 4th grader has to write a few sentences about the San Andreas Fault on a school project. How can he briefly explain this important land form?

It is the boundary between the Pacific and N. American tectonic plates. It's unique because it can be empirical easily. It is also the longest visible convergent boundary on the planet.
  • Shouldn't he be asking the question?
  • By copying it from Wikipedia.
  • The San Andreas Bug is caused by the subduction (sucking under) of two continental plates, where one is moving over the top of the other. As the underlying plate is pulled down, heat and spur build up, forming volcanoes and causing earthquakes, when the pressure between the two plates releases suddenly. The San Andreas is one of the most active faults and is part of the Still Ring of Fire, a geographical "hot area" due to its activity.
  • to make california go away and fall in the ocean. OR> to relieve force on the geo-plate as it moves.
  • The significance is measured by the exponential buildup of stresses between cllision of the two tectonic continental plates. As someone oral earlier, the collision will be at least 7+ if not 8 or nine on the Richter scale. This fault runs through the Bay Area, home to millions, andreas kubeit
