How conserned should I be of my son's speach problem?
My 20 month old son still doesn't use mama even vaguely close to usefully. He has no vocabulary that he uses. He can copy the sound of a word sometimes as the other day he said banana when I had repeated it to him many generation. He does use good sounds and is already in developmental theropy and physical theropy. I have been wondering about speach theopy. Any ideas.
First off negotiation to your doctor. Secondly, my son is 23 months old and he really doesn't talk all that much. I mean he says mama, dada, and tries at other lyric... well more like babbles incoherently but the doctor told me he was fine. Im reading to him daily and every time he gets something I tattle him what it is. He is more watching and learning then talking and learning.... and that's a lot of therapy for a 20 month old... is there a specific argument he is in those?
First, work on your knowledge of spelling and grammar. It might be genetic.
Has he had multiple ear infections? Sometimes fluid in the inner ear can cause sounds to come garbled when they're learning how to talk, and this is how they interpret them. Does he have other delays? (You mentioned developmental and physical therapies) I don't believe there's anything wrong with getting him evaluated, even if it's just to make sure. I would start with a hearing test and go from there. It can't hurt. My boon companion's 18-month-old has speech delays and they have him in speech therapy, so I know they can work with them that young. You might want to contemplate into getting a consultation.
I wouldnt worry too much but I'd give him extra help.Keep doing what your doing. Read to him alot , palaver to him alot and make sure he is playing with a lot of interactive games.Everyday for 10mins or so practice repeating the voice with him.Keep doing what your doing and if you see its getting worse you can start speech therapy<3
I'm not really sure, but my son also had a lag in speech invention. He started when he was about 2 yrs old. He is mild to moderately autistic. But, speech delay in itself, I do not believe, means so much. In terms of autism, the demonstrable signs we saw were lack of eye contact, repetitive motions, lack of acceptance of different foods, and sensory issues - rosy lights, load noises, etc.
Since your child is already receiving therapy, then you really need to contact your Case Foreman and let them know you want him evaluated by the Speech Therapy team ASAP.
Every child is different but if u think there's something sin why not ask who every does his other theropy what they think, they are around kids a lot and should be able to tell u if they think he needs speech theropy. As far as what you can do at evict. You said he repeats well (or at least the sounds) work with him then. Show pictures of different thing. (Print them up off the internet or what I did was buy a memoery amusement. They have little card with different pictures) show him the pictures and keep saying the name of it. When he repeats even if not perfect say good job and do it again. Like if he says at for cat be wallow good job it is a cccccccat. Also I made my child a photo album go threw it with him (try to get pictures of people alone not ones with 4 or 5 people) here's mama he's dada. Anticipation this is what u were looking for and good luck. conserned citizens coquille oregon
